Holiday Inn plan expansion at Greenwich Peninsula
Plans will be considered next week for a modest extension to Holiday Inn at the south of Greenwich Peninsula, with an additional 35 rooms planned. As the image above shows, it’s surrounded by the flawed road network in this area. 35 rooms should add around 50+ extra people to occupancy levels, and many will need to navigate this road network to reach the o2 and North Greenwich station.
Just five minutes away is the forthcoming Ibis Styles hotel.
This should open in a few months on Tunnel Avenue. Occupants will also face bracing the road network to reach the o2 and tube. It joins a steady stream of other developments nearby including the 1600 place St Mary Magdalene school approved last week and Greenwich Millenium Village developments extending south.
Let’s hope the continual stream of developments ensure that the road network is now a top priority with planners and highway engineers, looking at plans and funding for changes to ensure roads and pedestrian crossings are suitable for this rapidly changing area.
