Office workspace building planned in Charlton
The Greenwich Enterprise Board have plans to build 14 work spaces on Woolwich Road in Charlton. GEB operate various spots across the borough including the Royal Arsenal Gatehouse. I may be wrong, but when I pass the building it always seems half empty at best and a bit sorry looking, and I’ve long thought it’d make a great pub or restaurant. Ample space for outside seating too.
Back in Charlton, and although I like the western facing frontage with it’s stepped effect, the other sides aren’t so impressive. According to the Charlton masterplan now under consultation, active frontages are encouraged. This building offers a blank facade on it’s eastern and southern frontage, which faces the street.
The planning reference is 16/1447/F and it will be decided on Tuesday 7th March.
Somehow proportions look really off don’t they? 5 stories same size as the lamp-post, first 3 floors barely higher than a small tree.
I’d imagine that since it is a main road the lampposts would be higher up anyway?
It does seem odd and out of scale
