Plans in for 341 homes in Charlton at Synergy development
A site at 40 Victoria Way looks set to see 341 homes as plans are submitted for redevelopment of industrial units. Fairview are the developers behind the plan, with Formation the architects.
Fairview built the new development immediately to the west of the site a couple of years ago.
This new development sees a connection to Dupree Road to aid permeability through the site. It’s pedestrian only. “Affordable” housing is 35%, and there are car parking spaces for 40% of homes. That’s 144 parking spaces.
The buildings top out at 10-storeys beside the railways tracks, and range from 3 to 5 stories along Victoria Way.
This site is not part of the Charlton Riverside masterplan, which foresees 7,500 homes to the north closer to the Thames.
The planning reference is 17/1795/F
What an uninspiring design.
One of the great things about this development, is that it is going to have year round summertime. When it is midwinter in Dupree Road according to the top picture, the trees in the new development will be in full leaf. Grass even grows on brick walls. Marvellous. What’s not to like?
What no mismatched wooden bollards ?
Plenty of time for some top notch last minute additions

This scheme is to the great detriment for our area and a lost opportunity to enhance our community. This piece of land that currently has very little monetary value as a storage unit and therefore Fairview are massively cashing in by cramming the site. A pity about the Architect’s design too as they have done so much better work elsewhere. Deadline for comments is 29th of June. As the consultation process we felt was very poor we have put a group together to look into this in more detail and help anyone that wishes to be properly heard.
