Erith McDonalds looks to open 24 hours a day

McDonalds have applied to Bexley Council to open their Erith branch 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The branch currently opens from 6am to midnight seven days a week.

Unlike some other “drive-thru” McDonalds, this one has housing on surrounding sites which may make this tricky for the multi-national.

I also wonder if McDonald’s recent adoption of home delivery, via Uber Eats and Deliveroo, is a motivating factor behind this. Late night orders must be a strong target market.

However those deliveries are often via mopeds and motorbikes. Mopeds driving all night would arouse resident opposition.

There is no mention of home delivery in their noise assessment.

The World Cup has seen prominent McDonalds advertising regarding their home delivery but it seems to have annoyed many customers who complain of long waits when ordering as takeaways take priority.
