Incident at Plumstead station: police descend en masse and trains delayed

Trains through Plumstead are disrupted as numerous police rushed to the station after an “incident”.

Two people were seen in handcuffs.

The continual issues at stations must be putting people off travelling. Most Southeastern stations in London are unstaffed, or open with no barriers. Even if barriers exist, as at the busiest stations such as Woolwich Arsenal, they are left open as I saw earlier today. Totally different to many tube stations.

In recent weeks a stabbing by Slade Green begun as an argument at Plumstead station.

There was also a spate of robberies around Woolwich Dockyard.

If we want congestion and pollution reduced then rail plays a crucial role in getting people onto public transport, but if it’s perceived as unsafe then numbers will drop.
