Aldi look to take on former Toys ‘R Us store in Sydenham
Aldi have submitted plans to open a new store on the former Toys R Us site in Sydenham.
The store will at Bell Green retail park – a sprawling expanse of low-rise retail sheds that really could do with being replaced with mixed-use development to ease London’s housing shortage.
This part of the retail park was approved on appeal by the then-Labour Government in 2006.
Lidl went through a phase of submitting low rise shed applications, even for town centres sites, but have recently changed direction and are now looking to build mixed-use developments with housing above.
Of course, it’s not as easy when leasing sites.
50 jobs are planned and opening hours of 07:00 – 23:00.

It is good to read the old Toy R us store will become an Aldi bringing the store back in to use. Aldi is one of the supermarket chains that are doing ell. It will also creat 50 jobs. This can only be a good thing for the Sydenham area.
