Woolwich to gain new Sunday market in run up to Christmas
Plans for a new market at Beresford Square in Woolwich have been announced.
The opening day will be Sunday 21st October.
Roi Mengelgrein, who managed Camden Market for 10 years before moving to Tooting and leading that market to multiple award wins, is involved in the venture.
Unlike previous temporary markets on the site which have been criticised for not operating in the evenings or weekends, this one is on Sundays and open 9-5pm.
Bringing a buzz to the area on Sundays will be welcome.
They have a brand new website which can be seen here.
Those interested in a pitch can call 07739-777-737 or email woolwichmarket@gmail.com
Great news for Woolwich!! Wasn’t a fan when the fruit/veg market moved into this zone last week – ranted at the council about it earlier in year (fell on deaf ears). But this, this is good news! Will work well if feast east reopens on Sunday too. SO happy!
Sounds good for Sundays! I hope the incredibly reliable and good value fresh fruit, veg and flower vendors get a boost and first options considering the years of fantastic service they provide. Though it’s not easy for people working in the centre or city to shop there on a week day they are open Saturdays and are such an asset to the area. Whatever the weather you can trust they will be there with prices and produce that you can’t beat anywhere in London despite the understated look. I also hope their rent is protected so they can keep the prices local communities rely on.
True! We love the fruit & veg market – esp the banana man! – and wish them all the best. Looking forward to this new market.
Tray banners a pand! box of strawberries one. – that guy has been there for years, what a classic.
This is great news for Woolwich. I think the new market will attract customers who normally work all week to the new Sunday market. This will also benefit other retailers in Woolwich who open on a Sunday,
Wishing all the stall holders good luck and great success for the future. – Greenwich Council please keep their rents affordable. So we can also attract new business to the area.
