New Bexleyheath flats planned with 21 homes on the Broadway
Plans have been submitted to Bexley Council to demolish two shops and construct 21 flats at 281 Broadway in Bexleyheath town centre.
Two replacements shops are planned on site alongside new homes, with the current shops being an estate agents and tattoo studio.
The new building would have a stepped facade to reduce bulk as well as provide balconies.
The site stretches to the rear where most homes will be positioned.
Transport
This site is located within a ‘sustainable growth area’ in Bexley Council’s ‘Core Strategy’ which supports ‘a reduction of car dependency and encouraged sustainable modes of transport’. As existing flats above shops along the street have little to no car parking, the same is planned here.
With car usage among younger generations falling (down 40% in 20 years) and these flats aimed at younger single people and couples without children, a lack of parking spaces is likely to not be a large obstacle for a town centre site with numerous bus routes running past.
