Eltham’s new Vue cinema almost externally complete as opening approaches
With a matter of months to go until Vue opens a cinema in Eltham I had a quick look at progress.
It looks almost complete externally and internal fit out is now well underway. The cost of the building has increased from £14 million to £20.8m.
Vue also recently opened a cinema in Bromley with films at £7.99 all day every day. Good value for London but head beyond the M25 and it’s often £4.99 for all films.
The Bromley Vue suffered a long delay in opening and the hope is Eltham will not suffer the same hiccups.
Originally planned to open in March 2019, the opening date has been pushed back but it is not expected to be much beyond spring.
The building will also include restaurant chains Pizza Express and Nandos with a sky bar/restaurant also present – reminiscent of the cafe/bar at Greenwich’s Picturehouse. That will be taken on by local company Rixos who have a restaurant on the High Street.
There will be six screens in the new venue.
Will the bar be operated by Rixos in addition to the restaurant they already operate, or with the restaurant be closing at its present location?
I believe both will be open with more of a bar emphasis at the cinema
