Door fault on Southeastern train blocks Bexleyheath line

No trains have been able to run from central London towards Kent on the Eltham and Bexleyheath line since just after 6pm due to a door fault on a train at Blackheath.

Other trains are being diverted via the Woolwich and Sidcup lines with disruption widespread on those.

It comes just a week after Bexleyheath line passengers had their line reopen after a week of no service due to a landslip.

Southeastern are expected to see new trains in the next franchise if/when the DfT ever award it. One rumour is they will be given 5-carriage trains form South West Railway – which isn’t great on a network which saw millions spent to create 12-carriage platforms except Woolwich Dockyard – where selective door operation would be needed (its on many other routes).

UPDATE: the door issue has seen the train terminate and it should move to a depot soon.
