Enhanced stop and search powers in force across Greenwich borough

Police in Greenwich borough have announced that enhanced Section 60 stop and search powers will be in force from 2pm today until 11pm tonight.

The power is usually introduced if there has been recent violence or an elevated risk of crime in the near future.

The power will cover wards including: Abbey Wood; Thamesmead; Charlton; Eltham North; Eltham South; Eltham West; Kidbrooke & Hornfair; Middle Park & Sutcliffe; Greenwich West; Greenwich Peninsula; Plumstead, Woolwich Common and Woolwich Riverside.

  • Good to see some positive action taking place in Greenwich Borough. Those with nothing to hide will have nothing to fear. Stop and search is a much needed and very successful way of tackling crime and particular the rise in knife crime,
