Police announce location of knife crackdown – 12+ hours before it begins
The Met Police have just announced on social media they will be working to prevent knife crime at Stratford station tomorrow morning alongside British Transport Police.
Isn’t that a nice heads up to those who carry knives to avoid the station? They’ve even given the time it’ll commence.
In recent weeks and months they’ve often set up knife arches at the station. Yet announcing this in advance – what’s the point?
The tweet comes from the Roads and Transport division which has seen cuts and then officers seconded to other areas – which isn’t great with the standard of driving in London and moped crime still a major problem.
You may say I’m exacerbating the issue by covering this but the Met’s social media channels reach far more people than me.
This also reminds me of when Greenwich Council tweeted they were currently looking for unlicensed flat shares and HMOs with a picture of the location. A great chance for unscrupulous landlords to ring tenants or head over and tell them to say nothing.
