Police claim “new way” to steal cash found at Abbey Wood cash machine

Police have revealed a “new way” to steal cash from people using credit or debit cards after a device was found at the co-op on McLeod Road in Abbey Wood.

The machine will apparently dispense money as normal but notes will stick to a stripe on a metal device. I’m not entirely sure how notes could not be retrieved by users but this is what the police have warned about so keep an eye out.

The cash would then be taken along with the metal by thieves.

It’s hard to detect but keep an eye out for a metal attachment on machines where notes are ejected.
