Revised plans for 1,500 homes at Morden Wharf in Greenwich to be revealed

A consultation is to be held at the end of September revealing more details of new homes at Morden Wharf in Greenwich.

Developer U+I are behind the scheme on the west of Greenwich Peninsula. In total their will be 1,500 new homes and a target of 35% “affordable” housing.

According to developers there are also plans “for a riverfront bar or restaurant, shops and a children’s nursery.” A three and a half acre green space is also planned for the site beside the Thames.

Previous massing

The site currently has a bus garage located on part of the site for a temporary period of 10 years – though it appears to have operated for two years already without the necessary planning approval.

Previous plans were also contentious for placing all “affordable” homes in blocks closest to industrial units and the Blackwall Tunnel.

It is estimated the plans would support more than 600 new jobs on site, including smaller units for creative businesses and a new flexible industrial unit on Tunnel Avenue.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • Any word on the new Young’s bar/restaurant?
    That’s all gone pretty quiet!

  • So is it posssible that the retrospective planning permission for the Mordern Wharf Bus Garage operated by Go Ahead London Central could be refused?

Or will these new homes have to wait to be built after the 10 year lease for the bus Garage expires which is probably now as around 8 years left on the original lease.
