Thames Barrier test day closure may be cancelled
The planned test day of the Thames Barrier tomorrow may be cancelled – as it could be in use for real due to high tides.
There were plans for games and activities for children plus talks, demonstrations and prize draws. The fate of these is unknown if it is cancelled.
⚠️ Due to forecast unsettled conditions and surge activity, there is a possibility that the #ThamesBarrier may be closed to protect #London from tidal flooding over the next few days.
As a result, we may need to cancel Sunday's Annual Test Closure.https://t.co/QOxyljIeWi

The timed test opening and closure would have allowed spectators to see the impact when gates open attracting feeding birds.
A number of other events on the Thames have been cancelled such as Regatta London.
