Free wifi comes to Bexley borough town centres

Free high speed wifi is coming to a number of town centres across Bexley borough.

The service is not funded by Bexley Council but Ontix Ltd. So far it’s live in Erith, Welling, Sidcup and Crayford.

Sidcup

Following in coming weeks will be Bexleyheath and Bexley Village.

Bexley will follow

This story is interesting as it once again reveals how many people on social media read headline without ever reading the content. Many are complaining about Bexley Council funding this in a time of cuts – when they aren’t.

The same was said about crossing painted in Greenwich borough in recent months – when they were funded by sponsorship and not taxpayers.

However some have raised concerns about what happens with people’s data when signing up for the service. According to Bexley Council: “The network requires a one-time only registration and allows users to experience high bandwidth services free from advertisements.”

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
