New 70-room care home planned near Danson Park

Plans have been submitted to demolish four homes at Crook Log in Bexleyheath alongside Danson Park and build a 70-room care home.

Rear of site. Front will be traditional in style

Carebase are behind the application for 2 – 8 Danson Road, which will provide “specialised/dementia care. The aim of the scheme is to enable the provision of care close to home, providing an opportunity for the local residents to stay in the area, close to family which further enhances their mental well being.”

The company also operates Heathfield Court Care Home in Bexley.

The application states new buildings would be sympathetic to existing homes in the area along the Danson Road frontage.

Danson Road has a varied mix of homes as each plot was developed individually in the interwar period. This is the norm for much of Europe but rare in the UK. Building various plots separately enabled a great mix of styles, including some lovely art deco housing. None of those are to be demolished.

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
