Greenwich road closures as huge sections of super sewer tunnelling equipment to be transported
Parts of a new tunnelling machine for the Thames Tideway “super sewer” which have arrived at Greenwich Peninsula in recent months are to be moved by road to Deptford this weekend.
Many roadworks in Greenwich over recent weeks have been in preparation for the move. Work included removing street furniture and junction work to permit movement.
The section will be transported from 10pm this Saturday until 9am on Sunday. Road closures will be in operation.
The Thames Tideway project will see 25 kilometres of sewers built at a cost of £5 billion. Two major work sites are situated either side of Deptford Creek.
Until 0900 Sunday? That’s the buses buggered. And no trains on Sunday either!
It got cancelled
A set of lights wasn’t working today, but it was mid-morning so not too bad. The junction and railings have been reinstated, by the way.
