Man dies after Woolwich stabbing
A man has died after being stabbed near Woolwich Common this afternoon.
MP Matt Pennycook revealed the news on Twitter.
Devastated to learn of yet another young life lost in our community today as a result of a stabbing on Academy Road in Woolwich. I extend my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the victim and pay tribute to the police and London Ambulance Service for their efforts.

The Met earlier stated:
“Police were called at 15:28hrs today to Academy Road, junction with Shooters Hill, Woolwich, after a man was found with stab injuries. Officers attended with LAS. The victim, believed to be aged in his 20s, is being treated at the scene. We await a condition update.”
“Police are undertaking urgent enquiries to understand the circumstances. A crime scene and road closures are in place.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information, video or images that could assist police, are asked to call 101 ref CAD 4426/15 March.”
TfL state:
“Emergency Services incident on A205 Woolwich Common between Nightingale Place and Langhorne Street – The road is blocked in both directions as a result. Use alternative route.”
“Bus route 122 is diverted from Well Hall Rd, to Shooters Hill, Baker Rd, Ha Ha Rd then back to line of route.”
It happened up the road at the junction with Shooters Hill Road…
