Woman dead after fire breaks out at Plumstead tower block
Sad news this morning after a fire broke out overnight in a flat at a block on Blendon Terrace in Plumstead claimed the life of one person.
The Fire Brigade state:
“Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat on Blendon Terrace in Plumstead.
Most of a flat on the third floor of a 13-storey block was damaged by the fire. Crews found a woman in the flat who was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one man via an internal staircase. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews suffering smoke inhalation.
The Brigade was called at 0353 and the fire was under control by 0452. Fire crews from East Greenwich, Eltham, Erith, Lee Green, East Greenwich and Plumstead fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

Tragic news. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim at this very sad time. I hope the man goes on to make a full recovery.
Thank you . My mother in law sadly died , my father in law has been released from
Hospital . He’s completely broken after losing his wife and everything. Thank you to the person that tried to assist my father in law in rescuing my mother in law . She was bed ridden with MS sadly and they just couldn’t get to her . 😢
I’m very sorry to hear that.
My condolences to you and your family.
Sincere sympathies to you and your family.
