Major gas leak reported in Bexley

A major gas leak in Bexley has seen a strong smell of gas spread over a wide area overnight with reports of strong smells in Crayford and Sidcup.

Infrastructure company SGN report:

“We’re carrying out emergency repairs to our gas pipe at Manor Farm, Bexley, by Bexley Sand & Ballast Company.

This pipe is a critical part of our network in the local area. It’s a complex operation to repair this pipe and we have teams of engineers working at the site 24/7.

All being well, we hope to complete our repair on Thursday 2 April.

You may notice a smell of gas in the air over the coming days, while we carry out our repair. If you smell gas in your home or have any concerns about gas safety, you should ring the National Gas Emergency Number on 0800 111 999.”

Manor Farm is located close to Bexley High Street to the south east of Bexley station.
