Further Thamesmead tower blocks rise alongside new library
Lockdown has made keeping track of changes a bit more tricky but fortunately people are out taking snaps and keeping us informed. One such person is Christine Power who took these snaps of progress in Thamesmead.
The main shot above shows another tower block clearly apparent as is a new library. If we rewind back to June last year when I took a walk around taking a large number of photos, we can see the change.
The new library will eventually appear like this:
Some housing remained to the right in my photo above. That’s now all gone.
The former lakeside pub is now operated by Bow Arts after an award of £382,000 towards conversion.
This was how it appeared last June:
One thing that hasn’t changed is the abundance of wildlife.
Views from this area of Thamesmead just off Hartslock Drive are spectacular. A number of housing blocks in the area are currently being refurbished.
Not a bad view eh?
If wondering how the former Tavy Bridge area will look when complete, well here you go:
A new square is planned beside the library alongside an extensive water feature. This will be the first phase to complete.
Slightly to the east is Coralline Walk where demolition is now underway.
Thanks to Christine Power for the images.
My post last June taking a look across much of Thamesmead can be seen here.
