Plans in for 72 homes in Sidcup

Developers have revised up plans for new homes from 67 to 72 on a site off North Cray Road in Sidcup.

Back in October 2018 I covered plans for 72 homes on farmland. That was refused in January 2019.

This new application has bumped up the total by five homes. Fairfax Properties are behind the scheme which is 100 per cent “affordable” housing. Given “affordable” homes can be up to 80 per cent of new market homes, and new market homes are usually priced at least 20 per cent higher than existing homes in an area, the term affordable in effect has no real meaning anymore.

These are outline plans at the moment with much detail to be revealed later under reserved matters applications including exactly what that affordable label actually means.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
