Danson Park fireworks officially cancelled this year

Organisers of the Danson Park firework display have announced it will not be on this year for the first time in 56 years.

In a press release they state:

“Welling Round Table, the volunteer organisers of Bexley’s largest community event have made the difficult decision to cancel the much-loved annual Danson Park Fireworks display for 2020. The first time in the events history.

The annual fireworks display that has run every November for a mammoth 56 years without break, has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds and helped many hundreds of charitable and community organisations in Bexley and beyond.

A spokesperson for Welling Round Table Said: “After careful consideration, we are sadly announcing the cancellation of the 2020 Welling Round Table Charity Fireworks at Danson Park. The Coronavirus Pandemic means we are not able to guarantee the safety of the thousands of members of the public that attend, or that the event will be financially viable.

We are currently looking at other ways in which we can run a safe, financially viable event for the whole community early next year. Watch this space!”
