Covid cases show another sharp increase tonight

Tonight’s covid figures on new cases and hospitalisation make bleak reading as Lewisham’s weekly case growth hits 121.5 per cent. The figures were released today (17 Dec) at 4:40pm.

Lewisham

Bexley has growth of 83.8 per cent with rates at 445.9 per cent per 100k residents – which is higher than Lewisham borough.

Greenwich has growth at 63.5  per cent with cases at 309.4 per 100k residents.

Across London, new figures show weekly hospitalisations are up 53.1 per cent. The numbers in hospital across London are still half the levels seen in spring when the total topped 5,000. Nationwide numbers in hospital are nearing the total levels seen in spring.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
