One in four Greenwich bin staff off work as covid hits
Greenwich Council’s leader Dan Thorpe has asked for patience after it emerged 25% of staff in waste services are either in isolation or have tested positive for covid.
Cases have increased hugely in recent weeks across London with the east and south east hit hardest.
Other companies such as those providing rail services have been hit by high levels of staff sickness.
Greenwich refuse workers do a great job year round through all weathers. Let’s hope they are back to full health soon.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me and the site this year. If you want to assist click here.
Yes, I have been highly impressed by my bin collections this year. On a couple of occasions one bin or another hasn’t been collected on the nominated day, but it always has been the next day.
Hope all the workers stay safe and the peple with Covid recover sharpish.
Refuse workers are always forgotten, but they provide a vital service and it’s lovely to see them recognised here. Wishing them all well.
