Low-cost gym group Energie to open in Eltham

An operator of low-cost gyms is to open in Eltham after previous operator Kinesis vacated.

Energie Fitness have numerous branches nationwide and are a far bigger operator than the previous occupant. They also have a gym in Woolwich near the Waterfront and another in Erith.

The gym is on the site of a former Odeon cinema, or Coronet as I knew it. Much of the site was rebuilt as housing.

The new gym offers another challenge to Greenwich Leisure Limited centres (who trade as Better) which saw a large decline in members and now hit hard by the pandemic. The Eltham Centre does offer a bigger range of activities including a pool, but for people who only use the gym the low cost of major operators like Energie present a series challenge.
