Co-op look to open fourth Greenwich store at Millennium Village site

Plans have been submitted for a new co-op supermarket at Greenwich Millennium Village.

The branch will be located in plot 302, which is the most recent stage to complete.

This will be the fourth in the town and second on the Peninsula. They did have a fifth near Greenwich station – which is now becoming an Aldi Local.

While the co-op will be handy for small shops it will not stop many heading east to nearby superstores. Unfortunately the area remains car-dominated on surrounding streets, such as Peartree Way and Bugsby’s Way.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • This is great for the local residents
The new phase has many commercial spaces and a new square. Hopefully others will follow coop and give more choices for shopping and eating / entertaining
