Bexleyheath’s demolished Nyne Bar: New unit on site to let at £60,000 a year

A new commercial space at the former Nyne Bar in Bexleyheath is to let at £60,000 a year.

The nightspot was demolished with 10 flats and commercial space on site, and the commercial element is now being advertised.

Losing Nyne Bar was the latest closure for nightlife in Bexleyheath – which for a big town centre in London is pretty lacking for late night entertainment. Long gone are places like Rat and Parrot further along the Broadway.

Yesterday I covered how The Rose pub – also on the Broadway – is up for sale at £950,000. Hopefully that stays running under new owners.

While Nyne Bar was never my cup of tea, it’s sad to lose yet more nightlife. At £60,000 a year it’ll be tough for any decent new bar to open. High rents are killing places to go in the evening. People may want to shop online but they still want to meet friends and family and have a good time. Nightlife needs protecting from extremely high rents and rates forcing many to close.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
