Electric bus route starts in south east London

Bus route 484 from Lewisham to Camberwell has become an electric-only service as of this weekend.

Go-Ahead are operating 11 new single deck electric buses on the route from Lewisham to Ladywell, Brockley, East Dulwich, Denmark Hill and Camberwell.

The new buses are based at Camberwell garage. London is seeing an increasing number of routes gain electric buses. I reported earlier this year on plans for a new electric-only bus garage in North Woolwich.

Back south of the Thames, and later this year electric buses will also begin later this year on the 180 route from Lewisham to Belvedere.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • It now seems that the planning application for the new garage has changed to include diesel tanks and there are some indications that the council may reject it.

Work has started at the site.
