The Blackwall tunnel is already slow going in Greenwich as traffic diverts.
Northbound queues extend back as far as Sun in the Sand roundabout.
Diversions are in place.
Initial thoughts are with those involved in accident but then…………
Oh no, another afternoon of gridlock Greenwich!
I hope everyone involved in the accident are ok and go on to make a full recovery.
However, Greenwich is gridlocked yet again this afternoon and that is even before the Silvertown Tunnel opens. Traffic congestion and air pollution is only set to get worse around the Borough of Greenwich and neighbouring Boroughs. Despite an increase in respiratory related illnesses.
Welcome to the future of travelling in and around Greenwich Borough this will become the norm when the Silvertown Tunnel opens. Traffic is already more gongested in the area due to cycle lanes which have been installed meaning buses now stop in the middle of the road so other traffic is unable to pass.
Even worse is the fact is that this seriously delays emergency vehicles including ambulancess Fire Engines and police cars from getting through. A lot of people say that is not a problem until one of your on is affected by a delayed emergency vehicle that cannot get through the traffic then all hell wll break loose blaming the emergency services.
