Pedestrian hit by lorry on Lewisham High Street

A pedestrian has been injured after being hit by a lorry on Lewisham High Street this afternoon around 1:45pm.

An Air Ambulance landed to assist.

A roundabout to the south of the High Street has been closed by police.

It appears the victim was disabled and using crutches.

There is very heavy traffic and bus disruption in the area. TfL state:

“LEWISHAM HIGH STREET, SE13: ROUTES 21 47 54 75 122 136 181 185 199 208 225 284 380 436 484 P4 are subject to diversions, curtailments or delays/cancellations due to a road traffic collision at Lewisham High Street. Please allow extra time for your journey.”

UPDATE:

A spokesperson for Met Police stated: “Police were called at approximately 1.41pm on Wednesday, August 18, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry in Lewisham High Street.

“Officers, London Ambulance Service, London Air Ambulance, and London Fire Brigade attended.

“A man, aged in his 60s, was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening.

“Enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”

The road reopened by 4:30pm.
