Burglary attempt causes “significant damage” at Charlton House

Charlton House saw significant damage after a burglary attempt overnight into Monday morning.

Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust manage the buildings and grounds, and state the area is now alarmed.

It’s an added blow given Charlton House also requires significant funds for roof repairs, and many events were disrupted during the pandemic.

People in the area have been warned to be on the look out. Any witnesses contact police on 101.

  • How awful what a lovely Jacobean building Charlton House is and a major part of the Borough’s heritage with the building being built way back in 1607–12.by the crown to house Sir Adam Newton tutor to prince Henry son of James 1st.

I hope the culprits are caught and the building can be brought back to it’s former glory.

  • Charlton House located close to Charlton Village is a real beautiful jacobean building full of jacobean architecture. Charlton House is indeed a major part of of the Royal Borough of Greenwich heritage

This beautiful historic building does need to be brought back to it’s former glory for other generations to enjoy.

Likewiswe I hope those who caused the damage to Charlton House are caught,
