Khan declares ‘major incident’ due to Omicron in London
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has declared a major incident due to rapidly rising Omicron cases in London.
That means emergency service response and functionality is being impacted
Numbers of infections and staff isolating are having an impact upon emergency services, with London Ambulance Service seeing around 100 vehicles off the road
London Fire Brigade are also reported as having up to a third of fire engines out of use due to staff absense.
Case rates are rising sharply and London has one of the lowest rates of vaccination in the country.
Major vaccine centres have been established this weekend at large venues such as the Valley in Charlton. Find out details here.
i am not surprised with so many people blatantly ignoring the rules by refusing to wear mask on public transport, and in shops and other venues. Also we need everyone to get vaccinated if not already done so then get their booster vaccines when it is time too.
People need to stop listening to rumours about microchips being in the vaccines etc. This is complete and absolutely rubbish and does nothing to help stop the spread of covid and indeed the highly infectious omicron.variant.
I agree. We must all adhere to the rules to keep ourselves and everyone else safe.
@Graham: we have to learn to live with covid and could do so with the few simple precautions aleady outlined, but people are kicking up like two year olds over mask wearing and shouting the odds about their rights whilst ignoring the duties owed. You would think they were in danger of being snatched off the streets and held in a secret government prison camp.
As for refusing the vaccine because ‘I don’t know what’s in it’, do those people know the components of the prescription and over the counter drugs they take and how they interact to achieve the desired relief? However, I am gratified to see the lines forming outside everywhere that is offering the booster, so should perhaps not spend too much time on youtube. 😂
@ anonymous201481 I could not agree with you more.
Have a Happy Christmas and a safe happy and peaceful New Year.
