120 firefighters battling Deptford flats fire

A fire has broken out in a residential block on Creek Road in Deptford.

The block is ablaze and still not extinguished after three hours.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters currently in attendance.

UPDATE: Twenty appliances and 120 firefighters are still battling the blaze after three hours.

London Fire Brigade state “The Brigade was called at 1303. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage. Fire crews from Deptford and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.”

The fire brigade has seen praise for a quick response.

Creek Road is closed with bus delays.

TfL state:

“CREEK ROAD, SE8: Routes 188 199 are on diversion in both directions via Deptford Church Street, Deptford Bridge and Greenwich High Street due to a building fire. Route 188 is missing the stops from Macmillan Students Village to Creek Road / Norman Road eastbound, and from Greenwich Church Street to Macmillan Students Village westbound. Route 199 is missing the stops from Macmillan Students Village to Greenwich Station southbound, and from Greenwich High Road / Roan Street to Macmillan Students Village northbound.”
