Man hospitalised after Woolwich assault

A man is in hospital after being attacked on Brookhill Road in Woolwich last night.

A 33-year-old man was suffered injuries to his neck and face after the incident around 8pm last night (Saturday 30 April).

Police say his condition is not life-threatening.

Brookhill Road runs past the old Connaught Estate – now rebuilt as Trinity Walk – down to near Tesco and General Gordon Square. The main image shows the junction with Sandy Hill Road.

A man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in custody though police are looking for witnesses.

People who saw something can call police on 101 quoting reference 6516/30apr

It was a bad night for violence in the borough, with a man in his 30s fatally stabbed in Greenwich hours later. There is no suggestion they are connected.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • I hope the victim goes on to make a full recovery. Amir Khan was spot on when he said crime was up under Sadiq Khan Labour Mayor For London.
