Woolwich covered market’s sensory experience show opening tomorrow
A free new art show is set to open in Woolwich’s covered market from tomorrow (Tuesday 10th May) until Sunday 24th July.
Tickets for Dreamachine can be booked here.
The indoor market is set to be revamped and become a cinema operate by Picturehouse as part of the 801-home Woolwich Exchange scheme.
That’s all some way away though given the need to obtain site ownership over a wide area of Woolwich, and in the meantime the site is being put to temporary usage.
The event is for 18+ only and could pose issues for some. They state:
“The High Sensory Dreamachine experience uses fast flashing bright lights, known as strobe lighting, and loud music. You will be comfortably seated with your eyes closed throughout the experience, and for many people the effects of the lights and the music will generate colourful, kaleidoscopic visuals behind your closed eyes. It is designed to be an enjoyable experience that can be both relaxing and exhilarating. You can leave the experience with ease at any time.”
The project was inspired by the work of artist and inventor Brion Gysin, who invented a dreamachine.
