A serious incident in Woolwich (Wednesday 1st June) has seen an area of the town centre taped off by police.

The incident is near the indoor market and Sam’s takeaway on Plumstead Road.
The road itself was closed with a large number of police and paramedics alongside forensics are in attendance.
Traffic was diverted via Burrage Road
Any witnesses can contact police police by calling 020 8285 1574 quoting reference 7665/1JUN.
Woolwich continues to go down hill the area is a dive and a no go area at night although it is just had bad in the day with a lot of people choosing to go elsewhere. The area is rife with anti social behaviour in Woolwich Town Centre and surrounding area.
Do you live in Woolwich, Graham?
The serious incident was a road traffic accident and not a stabbing. Not too sure why a previous stabbing was mentioned.
Very much so, and this is coming from watching the town hit its ups and downs since the Army originally pulled out in the late 80s. Even when it was almost exclusively comprised of charity shops back in the early 90s, it was relatively safe provided you didn’t do anything as foolish as walk into the fountain area late at night. Now it is indeed as bad in the daytime as it used to be at night, and it’s spreading out farther around Greenwich and Charlton.
A moped rider has a serious accident and everyone starts talking about the decline of the area 🙄
And Charles, how does your comment relate to the incident described in the article being about an RTA?
Yes Michael I have lived in the Woolwich and Plumstead area all of my life well over 60 years as has my family before I was born. My thoughts are with the young moped riders family and friends at this very sad and difficult time.
