Former Lewisham pub Suttons Radio for sale at £3,000,000
The former Antic pub Suttons Radio in Lewisham is up for sale at £3,000,000.
Antic vacated the site after the pandemic struck in 2020.
An advert states the site has planning permission to “convert and extend the upper parts to develop 9 flats.”
Alternatively, “the landlord will consider letting the entire property or just the ground floor and basement to a pub operator or alternative user (subject to obtaining the necessary consents). Guide Rent £150,000 pa for the whole.”
No wonder nightlife is dying in many areas.
Lewisham could badly do with some better nightlife and late night pubs and clubs. The evening economy is not befitting a major town. It brings to mind when shortly before 2020 a friend wanted to meet a friend and Lewisham was in the middle, but the choice wasn’t great. The only option which looked decent was Suttons Radio – which is now closed.
I give Lewisham a miss if meeting anyone for a drink, even though it’s easy to get to via train and bus. There’s very little there it seems. Maybe I’m wrong. Do reply if there’s good places.
There’s a massive amount of new housing being built in Lewisham, but it could really do with a boost for nightlife. At £3m for a pub, that doesn’t seem likely.
Chicha on Loampit Hill is great, and Bella Roma is trying hard. Otherwise the town centre is as awful as what is currently been built there.
The fox and firkin is a good pub however a bit of a walk from the station
The REAL REASON nightlife is dying is that there are too many miscreants and not enough Police out at night!
When it’s finally realised that most of the idiots that cause trouble sleep all day, and cause trouble all night, then, maybe then, will the powers that be finally get a grip on crime!
@ Paul SuperUnkown. Well said I totally agree with you. Lewisham is like Woolwich a lot of people avoid the area at night for the reasons stated by Paul..
