Abbey Wood Elizabeth line services to start earlier in morning
Services on Crossrail will begin an hour earlier from next month in advance of full through running starting on Sunday 6th November.
Trains will begin running at 5:30am rather than 6:30am from September, while November sees the opening of Bond Street (no confirmed date in the month) and full through running to Heathrow and Reading in the west, and Shenfield in the east.
Trains will still stop around 11pm next month with later services only commencing in November.
The full line’s opening will help open numerous easier journey opportunities. For one, that slow trip from Hammersmith to Abbey Wood I have planned next week would be vastly quicker come November.
In addition, Abbey Wood to Stratford should be sped up with an easy change at Whitechapel rather than the DLR at Woolwich Arsenal.
Abbey Wood to Ealing Broadway takes 44 minutes. That’s taken me 90 mins in the past on the slow and uncomfortable Central line.
There’s already far quicker and easier access to numerous parts of London, and that’ll open improve further in three months. It may have been late and overbudget, but what an improvement for millions of people for decades to come.
