Elizabeth line to run on Sunday this weekend due to Queen’s funeral

Elizabeth line services will run on Sunday this coming weekend in advance of the Queen’s funeral.

Rail services running all weekend were due to begin from November but this weekend sees a late change with very heavy rail usage expected over the weekend and on Monday.

Transport for London state “The Elizabeth line will run a special service with 12 trains per hour on the central section (Paddington-Abbey Wood) on Sunday 18 September to provide further transport options for customers”.

Central London stations expected to be busy

Strike action on rail services were also called off last week following the Queen’s death.

Closures on Sundays will resume the following week until November when the full route opens with links from the core to Reading, Heathrow and Shenfield.

Bond Street station will also then open and trains will run later into the evening.

TfL also expect the tube network to be very busy this coming weekend and advise against the use of Green Park station.
