A platform collapsed this morning at Stone Crossing station near Dartford damaging a train.

No injuries are reported in the incident, which happened around 6am.

After the incident most Thameslink trains along the Woolwich line were cancelled, with none seeming to turn back at Dartford rather than continue to Rainham or stations in Medway such as Gillingham.

Southeastern services have also been curtailed.

Network Rail are also on site.

Stone Crossing was a sleepy station but like most along the line has – and is – seeing housebuilding near the station.

Hundreds of homes are being built. Plans for 258 homes nearby were covered on this site in 2020.
