Bexleyheath bus route sees cut

Transport for London have reduced bus service levels on the B13 route from New Eltham to Bexleyheath.

The service has dropped from four buses an hour to three, increasing service intervals from 15 minutes to 20.

In a report before Bexley Council last week, TfL stated:

“Buses will run every 20 minutes instead of every 15 minutes during the daytime Monday to Saturday.

Buses run from New Eltham

“There is no change to the frequency in the evenings or on Sundays. TfL monitoring shows the revised frequencies will be enough to meet current and expected demand.”

They added that demand was eight per cent lower than in 2017.

The route runs via Blackfen and passes the University of Greenwich’s campus at Avery Hill. A new school is set to be built on part of the site in 2025.

In addition, the B13 route has been curtailed in Bexleyheath near the library and will no longer run in a loop around the town centre.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

  • Thanks for that my main bus route here and to be honest , most of the buses already seem at 20 min wait now so this will be even worse. Sorry Khan, did you say you want us back on the buses again?

  • B13 is now drop off and pick up at other side of library instead. However B13 still have more seats inside the longer size buses instead of small buses.

  • Small electric.buses are to be introduced later in the year on route B13. So much for Sadiq Khan promising to improve Outer London bus services when he cut Central London bus services With ULEZ being extended we want mote buses across Greater London..

  • The new smaller electric buses for route B13 are due in September 2023 but are on average taking about 18 months for new electric buses to be delivered to bus operators.
