Fencing has been erected around a college building in Plumstead as demolition moves forward.

once redevelopment is complete the site will see 294 new homes and a replacement college in a venture between London South East Colleges (LSEC) and London and Quadrant (L&Q).

The site sits between Plumstead Road and the railway line running between Plumstead and Woolwich Arsenal station. The new college will be smaller.

LSEC state the existing building has not been fully utilised for some time.

College to be rebuilt

The college has gone under a couple of name sin the past including Woolwich college then latterly Greenwich College.

To fund the changes, “The modernised £24m College will be built on 0.45 acres of the existing campus, with the remainder c. 1.6 acres sold to L&Q for residential development.”

Selling part of the plot generated £14m income, with £10m from the Greater London Authority completing the £24 million cost.

In 2021 work was expected to complete in 2023. Then in 2022 constructing work was due to begin in summer of that year for completion in 2025.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
