Popeyes in Woolwich moves toward opening as shopfront plans in

American chain Popeyes have submitted an application showing how their forthcoming Woolwich branch will look.

The company are set to open on Powis Street as part of a UK expansion.

It’s unlikely, but Greenwich Council may ask them to tone down the frontage given the town centre was recently designated a conservation area.

Proposed change at one shop unit

Since then millions have been awarded from English Heritage to in part renovate shop fronts in the town centre as part of the High Street Heritage Active Zone – with work set to begin soon.

The building itself where Popeyes will be located is not historic. It’s a unit rebuilt after the riots in 2011.
