Eltham pub to see extension rebuilt under new plan

Pub group Portobello have submitted an application to refurbish and extend the Eltham GPO pub at Passey Place.

A former extension was almost entirely demolished though the pub’s owner aren’t sure how or why it happened. The application states that was the condition upon taking over.

Portobello are looking at a faithful reconstruction, stating: “The proposals are to reinstate what was previously there with only minor modifications to that to ensure operationally it works for the internal trade space.

All materials used will match what was there as best as possible.”

Portobello took over operations from Antic, who have since seen a number of pubs close including the Woolwich Equitable in recent weeks.

Elsewhere in Eltham, Wetherspoon’s recently announced they are seeking to close their pub – The Bankers Draft – a short distance away in the town centre.

The application to rebuild the extension can be seen here.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks
