Abbey Wood station car park to open

Bexley Council are set to reopen a car park on Felixstowe Road near Abbey Wood station.

The site was used as an Elizabeth line worksite for years and designated as housing by the council who own the land.

The station is now an even busier hub as Elizabeth line services join Southeastern and Thameslink trains.  Some bus routes such as the 472 have been extended to serve the station, though some Southeastern rail services have been cut from the Sidcup line encouraging driving to the area.

The authority have previously mentioned building homes using their own housing developer BexleyCo on the land but for now have opted for further parking spaces.

While they’ve embarked on this project, they havn’t found money for maintaining an £8.7 million street upgrade around the station which appears to be in ever worse condition.

No money for upkeep of local area from Bexley Council

Cycle spaces also remain fenced off years after installation. More on that in a post tomorrow.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here
