Woolwich housing development nears completion

A block of flats in close to Woolwich Arsenal station is nearing completion.

The development is by Meridian Home Start and located on the corner of Burrage Road and Vincent Road. In the main image above it can be seen poking out above existing buildings due to be demolished for the 1,000+ Woolwich Exchange scheme.

Development render

Upon completion the building will include 47 flats at between 55 and 80 per cent market rate.

Site developer Meridian Home Start are a company established by Greenwich Council.

They’ve generally only built at a modest scale over the past decade unlike, say, Newham’s equivalent now named Populo who are looking to build thousands of homes.

In fact, it’s all gone a bit quiet with Meridian. Their website doesn’t list the Woolwich site.

A site near this block in Woolwich could have utilised Meridian Home Start but instead Greenwich chose private developer Hill to build almost 500 homes.

The other end of Vincent Road sees work on site

Work is now underway on the leisure centre element, but no sign of movement on the residential component.

New homes planned

When it is built, five per cent will be social homes above and beyond existing levels.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here
