Sainsbury’s to open new supermarket in Erith

Plans are in to open a new Sainsbury’s Local supermarket within a major new Erith development.

Plans would see a supermarket open with Erith Quarry opposite a new school as part of a development which will also eventually include 850 homes.

Back in April this site took a look at some of the newest blocks to rise after overall housing totals were increased from 600 in 2021.

The new supermarket would be open from 7am to 11pm each day of the week.

Lime Wood school is opening in September 2023 on site.

A supermarket here will be a blow to Erith shopping centre nearby which has lost yet another retailer as The Works have closed.

With ever fewer reasons to go there for both existing and forthcoming residents, redevelopment of the shopping centre looks ever more likely.

Signage details from planning application

A recent planning application for one unit at the riverside centre state the new owners seek to redevelop, which they also highlight on their own website.

The planning application for Erith’s new Sainsbury’s can be seen on Bexley Council’s website by clicking here.
