New Greenwich tower on the up

Work on a major Greenwich residential development which will include two towers is now evident in the area.

The site is beside St Mary Magdalene school and between John Harrison Way, West Parkside and Neal Street.

475 homes. School on right

Its also close to the original phase of Greenwich Millennium Village.

Upon completion the site will see 475 homes within two blocks linked by a mid-rise section.

Close to GMV

L&Q are behind the project which sits within the Brickfields section of the wider peninsula masterplan.

Revised masterplan

Brickfields will eventually stretch from this site beside the school up to Peninsula Central beside the o2.

Part of the site has lay vacant for many years with another being a recently double-decked car park.

Core is rising

A parking crises is apparently more important than the housing crises.

This particular development is 60 per cent “affordable” though only half of that is London Affordable Rent which is closest to social housing levels.

Render of completed development

Still good compared to many other sites, though the overall Greenwich Peninsula masterplan has low levels of truly affordable homes. A relatively high number on this plot will see low levels at others.

As a private renter living costs are very high and ads bring in relatively little to the site. I run it alone, and you can support me through Paypal with a one-off or monthly donation here

Another option is via Patreon with offers monthly payments by clicking here

Finally there's the Ko-fi option

Many thanks

There's also a Facebook page for the site here

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
